Surface preparation Finish sanding to 100 grit. Screen or sand the floor to remove all the sander scratches. Note: never skip more than one grit of sandpaper. For floors to be stained use 100 or 120 grit sanding disc or 100 grit screen and for a natural floor use a 120 or 150 sanding disc or screen. Vacuum the floor thoroughly and tack the floor until all the dust has been removed.

Stains and Exotics When finishing a floor that has been stained make sure that the stain is completely dry before coating with a sealer or finish. Always prepare a test area to determine the compatibility with stains, exotics, or unknown wood species.

The EASY START sealer system:

1 Coat of EASY START

2 Coats of EASY FINISH or SUPRA

The Sealer EASY START the purpose of the seal coat is to prevent side-bonding, panelization, lap marks, bleeding, or tannin marks. Do not apply 2 coats of Easy Start, 1 coat is all that is required. Do not sand the seal coat; sanding may jeopardize the integrity of the seal causing bleeding or lap marks. After the seal is dry but within 24 hours apply the first coat of finish without sanding. If more than 24 hours have elapsed, screen thoroughly with a 180 grit screen and apply another coat of sealer.

Application of sealer

Allow the product to acclimate to work-site temperature. Cover the windows to prevent sunlight from coming in. Seal off the work area to protect from outside contaminates. Shake the gallon of sealer for a minute, shaking vigorously to mix it up. Pour a line of finish along the length of the wall in the direction of the wood grain. Pad out to the edge of the wall. Easy Start can be spread with a T-bar, lambs wool /synthetic, roller, or brush. Make sure to feather out all turns. Repeat this process until the area you are working on is complete. If you see an area you missed, you can touch it up right away. The dry time for this product is 30-60 minutes depending on conditions. Do not abrade the sealer before the first finish coat to maintain a consistent seal. A finish coat may be applied without abrasion, if applied within 24 hours but after product is dry. If 24 hours have elapsed after seal coat was applied, screen thoroughly with 180 grit screen. Apply another coat of sealer. After a skim has filmed over the floor you can turn your ventilation system back on. After the sealer is dry you are ready to apply finish coats. You can use a moisture meter to test floor. You are now ready to apply your finish.
